SWITZERLAND’S NATURE ATTRACTIONS

After some deviation into music, literature and photography I am reverting to the trip of 2007 to Switzerland. This time the story will be about its nature attractions. Here you will see some photos from lake Derborence, which is an amazing nature creation.

Derborence

The lake at Derborence was created by a natural disaster: thousands of tons of rock came crashing down from a height of 1900 metres in 1714 and 1749, coming to rest 400 metres below and forming a 1.8 kilometer-long natural barrier which gradually filled with water and became the Lac de Derborence. At the time these mountains were called Rochers or Scex de Champ, and the landslides were considered to be works of the devil. The mountains were consequently renamed Diablerets, Devils Mountains.  For a long time the lake was considered to be cursed – nature was thus left to its own devices and was able to reconquer terrain.
